UNIPORT First Class Graduate Shares Inspiring Journey as She Emerges Best Student in Department.

A young Nigerian woman has captured the attention of many people online after celebrating an outstanding academic achievement at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).

The brilliant graduate, identified as Goodness A., completed her studies with a First Class degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures and also emerged as the Best Graduating Student in her department. Her inspiring story has since attracted praise from Nigerians who admire her dedication and resilience throughout her academic journey.

The convocation celebration became even more special because it marked the end of five years filled with hard work, sacrifice, leadership responsibilities, and academic excellence.

A Remarkable Academic Achievement

According to details shared by the graduate, she finished her degree programme with an impressive CGPA of 4.77 out of 5.00, earning First Class Honours. Beyond her academic performance, she also secured several awards and recognitions during her time at the institution.

Among her achievements was being named the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. She was also recognized as one of the top performing students in multiple academic categories within her department.

For many students, graduating with a First Class degree is already a major accomplishment. However, emerging as the best student in an entire department takes that achievement to another level.

Balancing Academics and Responsibilities

What makes Goodness A.’s story even more inspiring is that her success did not come without challenges.

In a post reflecting on her university journey, she explained that she combined academics with several responsibilities. According to her, there were periods when she worked as a tutor, handled freelance jobs, and also assisted with her parents’ business while trying to maintain excellent grades.

She described experiencing moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and emotional pressure. Like many students, there were times she felt overwhelmed and worried about whether she was performing at her best.

Despite those difficult moments, she remained focused on her goals and continued pushing forward.

During her final year, she served as Vice President of the Faculty of Humanities Students Association for the 2024/2025 academic session. She also held the position of Academic Adviser for CSI UNIPORT during the same period.
