You Have World-Class Facilities” – Davido Explains Why He Chose Akwa Ibom for His Music Concert

Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his decision to hold his first music concert in Akwa Ibom State—after 14 years on stage—was influenced by the state’s world-class facilities.

Speaking during a pre-concert reception hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in Uyo on Sunday, Davido said Akwa Ibom stood out as the ideal location when his team was searching across Africa for a suitable venue.

According to the ‘Feel It’ hitmaker, Akwa Ibom topped the list of potential locations due to its beauty, serenity, and excellent infrastructure. He added that if every state in Nigeria maintained the same standards, touring the country would be an easy decision for him.

Davido also lauded Governor Eno for his developmental strides, especially in sustaining peace, ensuring security, and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.

“When we were scouting across Africa, five locations came up, and Akwa Ibom was number one,” he said. “People are flying in from other states that don’t have this kind of facility.

“I’m thrilled — this Akwa Ibom tour is special. We’ve already toured America successfully, and when looking for a top-notch venue in Africa, Akwa Ibom stood out. You have a standard facility, and that’s why we’re starting here.

“As time goes on, we’ll visit other states, but for now, I’m just happy the stadium is already packed. Let’s get ready to shut it down!”
