Nigerian Singer Ruger Opens Up About How Touring Affects His Love Life
Afrobeats sensation Michael Olayinka, better known as Ruger, has shared how his demanding tour schedule has negatively impacted his love life and family connections.
Taking to his social media pages, the singer expressed frustration over the challenges of balancing fame with personal relationships.
> “Being on the road has really affected my love life. It got worse after I returned to my black hair and low cut — now these girls won’t leave me alone. But honestly, I want to settle down soon,” he wrote.
Ruger further disclosed that his busy itinerary has strained his bond with family members.
> “I barely see my family these days because, trust me, I’m the most booked artist in the country. Fans across the world want to see me perform — they want that Ruger energy every month,” he added.
Known for blending Afrobeats, hip-hop, and dancehall, Ruger rose to fame after signing with D’Prince’s Jonzing World in 2020. His breakout hit “Bounce” and debut EP Pandemic propelled him into the spotlight, followed by the chart-topping single “Asiwaju”, which dominated Apple Music Nigeria for weeks.
His debut album Ru the World solidified his place as one of Nigeria’s leading young stars, earning him accolades such as Best New Artiste at the Soundcity MVP Awards and millions of fans worldwide.
