Carabao Cup: Arokodare Scores as Wolves Fall 4-3 to Chelsea
Tolu Arokodare found the net in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian forward’s strike marked his second goal in as many games since joining Wolves from Genk during the summer transfer window.
Arokodare reduced the deficit to 3-1 just three minutes into the second half after Hee Chan Hwang pressed high to win the ball and set him up for a composed finish.
Chelsea had earlier surged to a 3-0 lead before the break through goals from Andrey Santos (5’), Tyrique George (15’), and Estevão (41’). Jamie Gittens added a fourth in the 89th minute, shortly after Liam Delap was sent off for the Blues.
Elsewhere, Arsenal defeated West Ham 2-0 courtesy of goals from Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka, Crystal Palace stunned Liverpool 3-0, Manchester City beat Swansea 3-1, and Newcastle United secured a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
