NILDS DG canvasses constitutional role for traditional rulers

On the news today at TrendyNobs, The Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has canvassed support for traditional rulers in the country to be accorded constitutional recognition and responsibility.

Sulaiman made the plea at a one-day policy dialogue on Regional Security in North-Central Nigeria organised by the Legislative Center for Security Analysis, LeCeSA, in collaboration with the House of Representatives Committee on Traditional Institutions and UFUK Dialogue.

The NILDS DG underscored the significance of the policy dialogue as a critical step towards harnessing the influence of religion and traditional rulers to end national security challenges.

TrendyNobs reports that The dialogue attracted the presence and participation of critical stakeholders including the chairman House Committee on Traditional Institutions Hon Abdulmumin Ari Mohammed, members of the House of Representatives, military, paramilitary and traditional rulers from Plateau, Nasarawa and Kogi states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

The participants stressed the need for strong political will to drive the processes of achieving constitutional roles for the paramount rulers.
