CAF Reschedules Rivers United vs Black Bulls Clash, Porto Cleared Zaidu Sanusi for Europa League Game

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has adjusted the date for Rivers United’s CAF Champions League second preliminary round, second-leg match against Mozambique’s Black Bulls.

Initially slated for Sunday, November 26, the crucial encounter will now take place a day earlier — Saturday, November 25 — at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with kickoff set for 4 p.m.

Although CAF did not provide reasons for the change, the new schedule shortens Rivers United’s preparation time by a day. The Nigerian club faces a must-win situation, trailing 1-0 on aggregate after the first leg in Maputo. They must secure at least a two-goal margin to progress to the lucrative group stage of the competition.

In a separate development, Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has been declared fit and included in FC Porto’s squad for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The 26-year-old had been out for nearly two weeks due to a calf injury sustained during international duty with Nigeria, which kept him out of Porto’s domestic cup tie last weekend.

However, after returning to full training on Wednesday, Sanusi was cleared by Porto’s medical team for the trip to England. He featured in Porto’s opening two Europa League fixtures and is expected to play a vital role as the Portuguese side looks to strengthen its qualification prospects in Group C.
